Structures Engineer (Stress Engineer)

Primary Areas of Responsibilities:

  1. Design of Composite airframe primary structure
  2. Design using Creo (Pro/E) CAD software
  3. Stress analysis of composites and metallic structures using hand analysis and FEA tools

SUMMARY
Provide Systems and Equipment Engineering leadership while contributing to the company’s success through design and development. Lead in a collaborative way with Engineering team, Certification team, management, project teams, production teams, external vendors, and other work groups to achieve the company’s goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
· Develop and implement project plan, including cost, schedule, and resources to satisfy project goals, including project milestones, cost targets, and product quality.
· Define, track, and communicate key project metrics and milestones, includes facilitation of project and design reviews and participation in engineering & certification staff reviews.
· Proactively identify and mitigate project risks; responsible for elevating critical business decisions to appropriate management.
· Establish and direct activities of contract engineering and design partners.
· Foster alignment, accountability, and collaborative way of working across large team comprised of internal cross-functional partners and other contracted resources and subject matter experts.

· Coordinate the interface between engineering and certification engineering.
· Collaborate with Certification Engineering; obtain FAA data approval of applicable drawings and reports that demonstrate compliance with the Code of Federal (Aviation) Regulations in Parts 23, 25, 26, 27, 29 & 31. · Assure all relevant data is FAA approved for obtaining STC.
· Document action by completing all required time keeping records.
· Complete initial / recurrent training requirements in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

SUMMARY:

Experienced design professional that has taken projects from concept to completion in complex custom automation machinery and / or robotic work cell manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The designer needs the ability to invent and produce unique equipment for automation and robotic work cells. Candidates must be creative self starters, with the ability to anticipate problems and find solutions.

This requires checking one’s own work and seeing the jobs through the shop working with machinists, assemblers and electrical personnel. Other requirements include an understanding of machine tool technology, material science, hydraulics and pneumatics, elements of machine design such as bearings, chain, belts sprockets and general knowledge of power transmission.   Projects must be completed in a timely manner within a team environment.

Applicants should be experienced in the Microsoft Excel, Word and preferably Project.

Experience in Solid Works is required.

The candidate should have knowledge of the supplier database for selection of components commonly used in machine and fixture design.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Requires education generally equivalent to two years of college, bachelors preferred in Mechanical engineering, Industrial technology or equivalent. SUMMARY:

Responsible for the profitability of machine design/build projects in a custom machinery environment. Responsible to understand all issues potentially affecting your project such as mechanical design, controls design, pneumatics, hydraulics, financial budgets, labor charges, parts shortages, supplier deliveries, etc.   Responsible to continually assess the impact of these issues to your project and facilitate corrective action to maintain project budget and delivery schedule integrity. Provide single point communication and primary liaison role between the customer and Company once the project is kicked off at Company as a valid project.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A four (4) year technical degree (BSME) or equivalent is required to be considered for this position. Five to ten years direct machine design build and implementation experience will also be considered. Other technical degrees (BSEE, BSEET, etc.) will be considered as it relates to your direct aptitude and experience with mechanical design and tooling design concepts for factory floor automation and production equipment.

  • Two (2) to five (5) years direct manufacturing engineering and/or machine design, build, implementation and start-up automation experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with welding equipment, packaging equipment and/or high speed assembly equipment or systems is desirable. Three (3) to five (5) years experience with welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, PAW, etc.), Laser welding/cutting, Plasma cutting or product assembly processes is a plus.
  • Direct experience working with customers and suppliers is required.
  • Negotiation of contract issues, delivery requirements, and price are important to this position. A successful candidate should have this experience. Proficiency is desirable.
  • Proven success managing, facilitating or controlling a group of people or large project to a timeline and schedule is required.
  • Ability to work in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Project is a must.
  • Knowledge with SolidWorks/CAD is beneficial.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Operational

Process Development/Manufacturing Engineer

Description:  

Responsible for the day-to day operation of extrusion and downstream equipment, such as running of melt extrusion systems, assemble, disassemble, clean and inspect various components. Maintain records and data log sheets. Aid in process optimization to improve quality, yields, make recommendations, involving equipment modification, spare parts inventory and preventive maintenance procedures.
Duties
1. Implement production schedule and maintain quality within assigned area.

2. Extrude and process fiber / film / tubes to meet production requirements

3. Prepares and completes production paperwork.

4. Sets-up and operates extrusion machines

5. Set up and breakdown equipment to include cleaning of dies, mandrels, pump, water tanks, etc and maintain records of setup.

6. Conduct preventative maintenance and CIP’s as needed.
7. In process testing to insure production and quality standards are met.
8. Test material in accordance with ASTM and USP standards including recording of data

9. Maintain good housekeeping and safety standards.

10. Must be flexible to work rotating shifts and available for call in when needed.
