PLASTICS ENGINEER

This position is a direct hire role on-site in their Cambridge, MA facility.  This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience working on medical devices and participate in the introduction of 3-D scanning technology. The candidate will interact with a wide variety of new technologies and see their work put to use daily by a variety of scientists.

Job Responsibilities:

As part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for the design transfer to contract manufacturers, communication of design requirements and translation of the requirements to molding and compounding vendors. The position responsibilities include:

• Translation of design requirements to external molding and compounding vendors

• Project management of molding and compounding activities

• Write procedures and test instructions

• Maintain accurate and complete records in accordance with standards

• Work with Bills of Materials

• Manage inventory control for materials engineering team

• Ability to work in fast-paced start-up environment independently and as part of the team

Position Requirements:

• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Associates in Engineering (with experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree), preferably Plastics Engineering

• Experience in molding operations

• Experience in tooling, design and machine shop fabrication

• Ability to plan and manage outsourced work packages

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Ability to interact with the engineering teams, vendors, customers and other technical personnel

• Detail oriented

• Experience in a medical device development preferred

Our client is seeking an Engineer that specializes in injection molded parts.  Candidates MUST have recent injection molding experience and be familiar with all aspects of the process, from tool design thru finished product.  Candidates will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing of injection molded components for the contract medical device industry.  They may also be required to perform some limited design changes. Several years of Solidworks is preferred.
