Description:

Senior Packaging Engineer

The Packaging Engineer is charged with providing the necessary leadership, technical expertise and tactical execution to ensure life-cycle packaging efforts (design, development, testing, and maintenance of Argon Medical Devices secondary and tertiary packaging) to meet all business requirements. Scope of this responsibility includes packaging for Clinical and Marketed products as well as all related packaging components and processes

 

Support labels, cartons, package inserts, pouches, thermoformed packaging components, shippers, etc., for vials, syringes, bottles, and medical devices used with Clinical and Marketed products, as well as new packaging equipment used in Argon Medical Devices packaging operations -Initiate/approve change records and ECOs -Support equipment IQ, CQ, OQ, and PQ requirements -Develop and maintain packaging specifications -Development of test protocols and reports -Support QA vendor audit teams, identify vendors as needed -Artwork proofing and approval -Represent packaging function in related enterprise-wide project efforts

They will have demonstrated strong project management skills for leading the development and implementation of packaging projects at a cross-functional level. Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, collaboration and presentation skills are required. The individual is assumed to have a fundamental working knowledge of safety, quality systems, and quality assurance concepts including the application of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identify and support cost reduction opportunities in regards to Packaging.
  • Identify and support the purchasing of new packaging equipment, materials, and techniques.
  • Provide technical support and training to manufacturing in regards to packaging systems and machinery.
  • Prepare capital expenditure requests, drawings and specifications for new processes and equipment.
  • Prepare packaging validation protocols and reports to support packaging changes.
  • Perform packaging validation testing to support changes.
  • Support material qualifications for packaging changes such as resin material changes.
  • Create and update packaging specifications for manufacturing.
  • Assist in artwork creation and revisions for product packaging.
  • Operate various testing apparatus in qualifying packaging changes.
  • Create sterilization pallet patterns as well as non-sterile pallet patterns for most manufacturing locations.
  • Contributes to engineering schedules and plans.

R&D / Packaging Engineer

They are looking for an individual who can assist with continuous improvement within their manufacturing environment.  Candidate must be extremely hands-on and have prior experience in the areas of packaging and labeling.  They are open to seeing candidates from different industries because they feel that the packaging/labeling experience is transferable.  This individual will be working in a highly cross-functional manufacturing environment where they will interact with Quality Control, Manufacturing, Sales and others.  They may be tasked with assisting the QC department to help validate customer complaints or quality issues.   They will consistently be pushing for process improvements with current/future processes.  Candidate should have at least a basic understanding of extrusion. The ideal educational background will have a candidate with chemical, mechanical, polymers/plastics or industrial technologies.
