Title:

Project Engineer

Description:

Designs, fabricates, modifies, evaluates, and documents, molded assemblies, components, and systems to produce or improve company products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops data and makes preliminary sketches, lay-outs and notes required to present design proposals. Researches basic design factors such as ease of manufacture and availability of materials and equipment. Works with other organizations impacted by design development.  Technical responsibility for design and development of automation requirement specification and systems concepts and installs automation programs to production in a smooth and timely manner. Must have several years Project Engineering along with significant AUTOMATION/MEDICAL DEVICE/PLASTICS INDUSTRY background

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Design and develops complex plastic molded sub- assemblies, components, and packaging as assigned

-Develops and requirement specifications, system concepts, CAD generated machine layouts, detail drawings, BOM’s and budgets. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details of parts of devices, mechanisms and structures

-Develops and implements changes to product design and/or the manufacturing process to achieve efficiency, quality and/or cost improvements by participating in new product development programs.

-Provides customer product design engineering for economic production; may participate in meetings with customers.

-Assesses proper material, tooling, automation and equipment selection

-Works with manufacturing to trouble- shoot problems, upgrades, retrofits, set-ups, methods development, and the development of process parameters

-Participates in product development meetings and may make recommendations to product design changes to enhance manufacturing and assembly.

-Conduct proof of concept experiments and design other testing requirements as needed

-Develop SOP’s operations and maintenance manuals

-Research new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology

-Understanding of Lean Six Sigma tools, projects and processes and ability to incorporate these into assigned engineering projects

-May assume lead role in small or sub- section of large projects, as assigned

-Reviews completed projects for accuracy, clarity and completeness

-Ensures projects are compliant with all local, regional, and national regulatory requirements, codes and controls

-Supports all company safety and quality programs and initiatives

-Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

B.S. Degree or equivalent. Understands processes and has strong understanding of various manufacturing techniques. 4-6 Years of related Engineering experience; 2-4 with Masters Degree. Strong knowledge of engineering theories, design principles and practices, and design evaluation techniques.

Mechanical Design Engineer/Project Manager

Description:

REQUIRED:

  • BSME required, MSME a plus!
  • 5-7 years of technical design and engineering analysis, doing product and system design, not components.
  • Broad based M.E. Design experience in 1 or more of the following markets:
    • Computing, Consumer Products, Networking, Medical Devices (concept through clinical controls).
  • Hands-on design and technical project management of:
    • 3-5 full product development cycles involving high volume tooled products.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Some background working in smaller companies.
  • Some experience working at or in a consulting environment is necessary
  • Solid experience working with clients and suppliers
  • Direct supplier sourcing and qualification experience
  • Working knowledge of design using Injection Molded Plastics and Sheet Metal
  • Pro/E Wildfire and/or Solid Works
  • Hands-on performance in shop/lab work

Title:

Mechanical Engineer

Description:

Directs development & technical program aspects supporting multidisciplinary engineering team efforts throughout the product development process from concept, testing & through market introduction including research, planning, and scheduling of technical activities.  They will be working with designers, manufacturing & other internal cross-functional teams to develop products, along with some customer interaction skills on the product designs, so they must have excellent communication & interpersonal skills.  Other duties will include:  Serve as Technical Lead for Design Reviews and product risk analyses (FMEA) in conformance with Device Project Plan and Design Controls; Analyze specific product technical tradeoffs and recommends specific solutions;  Incorporate knowledge of customer use and product design to predict product effectiveness/anticipate potential failures; Ability to use a combination of Design, Simulation, and Rapid Prototyping tools to quickly iterate and test design concepts and at a reduce cost and lead time for customers; Document work per SOP for Design History File (DHF) and Design Verification as well as Design Validation. Plusses: Understanding of applicable standards such as FDA, CE and UL; & Experience with Finite Element Analysis (COSMOS) and Tolerance Analysis (Statistical packages a plus).  Previous Project/Technical Lead experience is highly desirable.  SolidWorks is a plus, not required.   A knowledge of plastics, extrusions & injection molding would also be a plus.
